However, speaking to Off The Ball, Malignaggi has called out McGregor to a boxing match, even suggesting promoter Eddie Hearn or advisor Al Haymon could make the fight happen.
Malignaggi said: “There’s no other fight he can make that he makes more money than he does fighting me – the problem is, he gets beaten by me.
“Hearn can easily put the fight together, Haymon can easily put the fight together, Showtime have said they’d be interested in it – I don’t think it’s a no-brainer at this point.
“I don’t think it’d any secret at this point – there’s money in the fight.

“I would love to fight Conor McGregor in a winner-takes-all fight in a boxing match, I would absolutely love it because I would beat him to a pulp, I would hospitalise him and I’d make him go home broke too.
“In boxing I’d be interested in it – I’d love to do a winner-takes-all fight just so he can go for free but I don’t think he’d ever agree to that.”
The Brooklyn boxer likened McGregor to the ‘punchbag of combat sports’ and vowed to expose him as overrated.
Malignaggi said: “A legacy is created over longevity and Conor McGregor has had no longevity – he’s just the punching bag of combat sports.

“Believe me, when Conor McGregor is gone and irrelevant in the next couple of years and I will make sure, in my time, that everybody knows how overrated he was.
“I will destroy whatever legacy he thought he was going to make because he’s a con-artist and I’ve been slowly uncovering how much of a con-artist he is.”
The two have been feuding since last summer when Malignaggi became McGregor’s sparring partner before the Irishman cashed in on a money-grab boxing cameo against Floyd Mayweather.
Things turned sour when the UFC star leaked pictures and footage of the spars with a disputed knockdown of Malignaggi, 38, prompting the Brooklyn boxer to leave Team McGregor’s camp.

McGregor would go on to be beaten by Mayweather inside 10 rounds, with Malignaggi having a front row seat for what could have been pleasant viewing for the now pundit.
Mayweather has since fought another boxing debutant, when he travelled to Japan to box Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa.
The fight lasted just one round as Mayweather dropped the featherweight kickboxer three times – though shortly after McGregor would call out the 20-year-old Nasukawa.
Malignaggi claims McGregor is looking for ‘free money’ after calling out Nasukawa on social media.

While the former two-weight boxing champion accused McGregor of losing every year – poking fun at the Irishman’s defeats to Nate Diaz in 2016, Mayweather in 2017 and Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018.
Malignaggi added: “McGregor’s trying all that he can to keep himself relevant as best he can – even going as far as calling out the Japanese featherweight Nasukawa.
“That guy just did an exhibition with Floyd Mayweather – I don’t think he was intending to fight guys as big as Floyd and Conor, that physically big – he’s a very small guy.
“It was a one-off situation. Conor’s not the same – he’s not Floyd Mayweather. Floyd Mayweather doesn’t lose – Conor loses every year.

“So I think Conor twisted up the roles a little bit. He got a bit confused – he forget he was Conor ‘McQuitter’ and thought he was Floyd Mayweather for a second where he could just walk into the free money. Guys like Floyd earn that kind of thing.
“’In truth, he’s trying to look for free money because he knows that his time at the top is coming to an end.”
