BREAKING: Major Title Change And Heel Turn On WWE 'Smackdown' Forces Change To 'Survivor Series' Match

The final stop on the road to WWE Survivor Series certainly provided a newsworthy two hours, as this week’s Smackdown Live featured the announcement of two major PPV match changes following the events which transpired on the show.
As noted, Becky Lynch suffered an injury during the invasion angle on Raw this week, and WWE confirmed on Smackdown that the Women’s Champion suffered a “broken face” and will not be competing against Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series as planned. In Lynch’s place facing the Raw Women’s Champion will be former Smackdown Women’s Champion and Lynch foe Charlotte Flair.

The second major event which transpired on WWE Smackdown tonight left many fans puzzled heading into Survivor Series. It was announced earlier in the night that Daniel Bryan would be challenging AJ Styles for the WWE Title in the main event of the show, and the bout was indeed action-packed, akin to the last title match the two had prior to WWE Crown Jewel.

Much to the surprise of the fans in St. Louis, Bryan was able to successfully defeat AJ Styles for the Title to become the new WWE Champion.
The title change has major Survivor Series implications, as Bryan will now be facing The Beast and Universal Champion Brock Lesnar in a Champion vs Champion match at the PPV on Sunday night. Going into Smackdown Live this week, the bout was set to feature Lesnar vs Styles.

Despite all that occurred on Smackdown tonight, the WWE Title change was not the final surprise in store for fans, as Daniel Bryan appeared to turn heel on AJ Styles following his title win. The end of the show tonight saw Bryan pummel Styles in a post-match beatdown before standing tall over his downed opponent with his newly won WWE Title hoisted high above his head.
Following the events which transpired on Smackdown this week, below is the updated and likely final card for WWE Survivor Series taking place this Sunday night in Los Angeles.
-Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. WWE Champion Daniel Bryan
-Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair
-Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins vs. United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura
Women’s 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match:
-Team Smackdown (Carmella, Asuka, Naomi, Sonya Deville and TBA) vs Team Raw (Mickie James, Natalya, Ruby Riott, Nia Jax and Tamina, with Team Captain Alexa Bliss)
Men’s 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match:
-Team Smackdown (Shane McMahon, Rey Mysterio, Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe and The Miz) vs Team Raw (Finn Balor, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman)
-WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy vs. Mustafa Ali
5-on-5 Tag Team Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match:
-Lucha House Party, Chad Gable and Bobby Roode, The Ascension, The B-Team and The Revival
-Raw Tag Team Champions AOP vs. SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Bar (w/ Big Show)

BREAKING: Triple H Suffers Injury During ‘WWE Crown Jewel’ Match

Triple H and Shawn Michaels reunited in a winning effort against The Undertaker and Kane at Crown Jewel. The match was the main event of course and saw WWE’s four legends come together for a sellout crowd in Saudi Arabia.
But unfortunately, it appears that Triple H came out of Crown Jewel much worse for wear. According to WWE, The Game has apparently suffered a torn pectoral muscle. Hunter is expected to return to the states for surgery.
The match between D-Generation X and The Brothers of Destruction was both extremely physical and highly intense. Fans in attendance responded overwhelmingly positive to the bout, which may have surprised some critics.

INJURY UPDATE: @TripleH sustained what appears to be a torn pectoral muscle during the #WWECrownJewel main event between #DX and The #BrothersOfDestruction. https://t.co/6KEEUsHf2v
— WWE (@WWE) November 2, 2018

Crown Jewel also saw AJ Styles retain his WWE Championship against Samoa Joe. The Bar retained the SmackDown Tag Team Championships against The New Day and Brock Lesnar became the new Universal champion after beating Braun Strowman.
One of the biggest surprises of the night took place when Shane McMahon won the World Cup Tournament. McMahon was at ringside during the tournament final between The Miz and Dolph Ziggler when Miz was supposedly injured outside of the ring. Rather than forfeit the match for SmackDown Live, Shane stepped in for the injured A-Liser and won the cup for the blue brand.

WWE UK Star Pete Dunne Comments On Passing Brock Lesnar As Longest Champion Of Modern Era

Brock Lesnar is one of the most polarizing Superstars in recent WWE history. The Beast Incarnate comes and goes when he pleases and takes the big money payday, while other WWE talents wait for their chance to shine. That’s the narrative that was ultimately created by the company and it’s followed Lesnar through his entire WWE run over the past several years.
So while his critics continue to find a reason to hate him, they will now have a reason to celebrate. That’s because Brock’s 503 day record as WWE Universal champion has been passed by Pete Dunne, the current WWE United Kingdom champion. Dunne recently tweeted about his accomplishment, keeping his reaction short and sweet.

I break a record every day pic.twitter.com/lAPLm7ChK1
— Pete Dunne (@PeteDunneYxB) October 17, 2018

Dunne’s record as WWE UK champion is now at 515 days and counting. Indeed when it comes to the modern era, Dunne has moved past several stars on the list of title reigns. In addition to Lesnar, Dunne has also passed Asuka, who held the NXT Women’s Championship for 510 days. Dunne has moved ahead of CM Punk, who was the WWE champion for 434 days, Dean Ambrose as United States champion for 351 days and Finn Balor as NXT champion for 292 days.

The next longest reigning champion in Vince McMahon’s company is AJ Styles. The Phenomenal One has held the WWE Championship for nearly one year, at 345 days.

Though Dunne has been somewhat tight-lipped about it, the fact is that many fans have a great deal of respect for The Bruiserweight. Dunne is legitimately tough and crazy intense, both of which make him one of the most entertaining stars in Vince McMahon’s company.
Dunne recently defended his championship against Noam Dar on the first edition of NXT UK. The new brand airs on the WWE Network and features the top male, as well as female, pro wrestlers working in the business today. Among the best of the brand are Dave Mastiff, Toni Storm and the Mustache Mountain tag team of Tyler Bate and Trent Seven.

Before the segment was able to turn into sibling rivalry between Shane and Stephanie McMahon, Shane thanked the fans in attendance in Washington for supporting Smackdown throughout the years. Shane then welcomed Stephanie to the “A” show, a claim with which Stephanie took exception, labelling her brand, Monday Night Raw, as the true “A” show and flagship show in WWE.
Vince McMahon’s music finally hit and the WWE Chairman and CEO made his long-awaited return to Smackdown Live to silence his waring children.

— TWC (@TheWrestlingCov) October 17, 2018

Once Vince hit the ring, he reminded Shane and Stephanie that the fans in attendance do not want to see the respective Commissioners bicker, but instead want to be entertained. After Stephanie McMahon took a shot at her father’s age by telling the WWE Universe that Vince was wearing his hearing aid in the ring, Vince put an end to the segment by calling for one final dance break featuring himself, Truth and Carmella.

— Cyborg Mcintyre (@CyborgWarrior18) October 17, 2018

The segment concluded with WWE Champion AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan hitting the ring for their big tag team match against The Usos. As noted, Bryan will be challenging Styles for the WWE Title at the upcoming Crown Jewel PPV taking place on November 2nd in Saudi Arabia.

WWE Downplaying Saudi Arabia's Involvement In 'Crown Jewel'

WWE Crown Jewel is set to take place on November 2. But as pro wrestling fans are now surely aware, the event has been mired in controversy. That’s due in large part to Crown Jewel‘s location.
Saudi Arabia is the host nation for Crown Jewel but the government is now under a cloud of suspicion thanks to a journalist’s disappearance and possible assassination. The journalist in question is Jamal Khashoggi. Khashoggi worked for the Washington Post and has been an outspoken critic of the Saudi government. Now that he’s disappeared, many believe the Saudi government is behind it.

Now it appears that the company has decided to downplay Saudi Arabia’s involvement. WWE.com has pulled all references to Saudi Arabia from its Crown Jewel page. While this does not mean the event is changing locations, the move does seem to be an effort to quieten any negative publicity.

RelatedChris Jericho Shoots Down Idea To Appear At 'WWE Crown Jewel'
The story is ongoing of course and WWE has indeed been monitoring the situation. But according to PWInsider, Crown Jewel will not change locations. This may or may not come as a surprise to fans that have been following the story but sources in WWE evidently claim Saudi Arabia will still host Crown Jewel.
Crown Jewel will feature the in-ring return of Shawn Michaels as he teams with D-Generation X co-founder Triple H against The Undertaker and Kane. Roman Reigns will defend the WWE Universal Championship against Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar. The WWE Championship will also be on the line when AJ Styles defends the title against Daniel Bryan.

WWE will also introduce the first ever World Cup at Crown Jewel. The World Cup Tournament will be decided at the event and the qualifying matches are currently taking place on SmackDown Live.
WWE has yet to make any further announcements concerning Crown Jewel‘s status. The Floor Seat will continue to follow the story as it develops.
