Danielle Kang celebrates winning golf tournament in Shanghai by kissing weird trophy

Category : GOLF

DANIELLE KANG admitted she was a lucky pucker – after her caddie saved her from a “temper tantrum” on her way to just her second-ever victory.
America’s world No29 celebrated by kissing a weird trophy for a photo she might enjoy far less than her dramatic triumph in the inaugural £1.6million LPGA Shanghai event.

And she needed stiff words from her caddie halfway through the final round before four crucial birdies in the last nine holes.
Kang, who was 26 on Saturday, came two shots clear of seven players, including New Zealand’s ex-world No1 Lydia Ko, who surged into contention with a fourth-day 66.
But Kang’s 69 sealed her triumph on a 13-under-par 275 total at the windy Qizhong Garden Golf Club.
And she revealed her caddie’s key advice when “after nine holes I had a temper tantrum”.

Victory was a garland occasion for Danielle Kang, whose talent has not been matched by her number of tournament triumphs – just two so farAFP or licensors
The California star, a Major winner in 2017 at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, said:  “He told me to go off to the side, and we did.
“‘Hit the bag, do whatever you need to do to let your anger out and start a new nine’. “That’s what I did.”
Kang was calmer and stronger after that.

Yet she confessed she has been in nervous turmoil for months.
She said: “I’ve had some anxiety problems.
“I’ve been through so much just mental struggle that it’s just been emotionally draining all year.
“”I’m just finally happy and just working on my game properly.”

And Kang was equally open when asked to explain her record of only two victories in seven years on the tour.
She said: “I had to go through swing changes. I had the swing yips, the putting yips, to everything possibly you could think of.
“Overcoming the mentality of the anxiety you feel over the shots, it’s so much that golf does to you.”
Now Kang must hope her Shanghai triumph can give the kiss-off to her past blues.
She added: “You know, I’m just so happy to be where I’m at today. I’m just happy that I won.”

Danielle Kang Wins The Buick LPGA Shanghai And A Rather Promiscuous Looking Trophy

Category : GOLF , LPGA

Shout out to Danielle Kang for capturing her second LPGA victory with her win at the Buick LPGA Shanghai. Firing off a 32 on the back nine is definitely one way to separate yourself from the other 8 golfers who finished at -11, two back of Kang. Very similar to how Brooks Koepka won this week, and became World No.1 , both just played flawless golf down the stretch, and gave no one else a chance.

Congratulations, Danielle Kang!

Ok, now that we gave Danielle the credit that she 100% deserves, can we please talk about this trophy, because the internet surely is.

Can we please redesign this trophy?
— Ries (@rjriesop) October 21, 2018

How does this trophy get approved? This reminds me of the How I Met Your Mother episode where Teds boss didn’t realize that the building they were creating looked exactly like male genitalia. There had to be multiple people who had to approve this design, and you’re telling me no one brought that up? Or maybe they are all laughing with us, knowing damn well what they were doing when designing this trophy. Either way, it led for a couple giggles on this Sunday morning, so thank you Buick LPGA Shanghai, and once again congrats Danielle.

Brooks Koepka Won The CJ CUP And Took Over World No.1 While Everyone Was Sleeping

Category : Brooks Koepka , GOLF

Congratulations, @BKoepka.
He's won THE CJ CUP.
It's his 3rd win in 11 starts.#LiveUnderPar pic.twitter.com/ihPk9WiJZg

Seems like a pretty decent way to start the season as the reigning PGA Tour Player of the Year, and in perfect Brooks fashion, he did it while everyone was asleep. Koepka finished like he always does, as the silent killer, and shows that “major” Brooks can in fact play in random PGA Tour events. Oh, and not only did Koepka win his 5th PGA Tour event, but he also took over the #1 spot in the OWGR from his good buddy (or enemy, we still aren’t sure) Dustin Johnson.

@BKoepka accepted his Player of the Year Award today.
Of course @DJohnsonPGA showed up. #LiveUnderPar pic.twitter.com/4M5vYIOm8M

While you were sleeping, Koepka was having one of those nail in the coffin type of back nines to win The CJ Cup by 4 shots over Gary Woodland. I’m not sure if the laser on 13, the chip in on 16, or the eagle on 18 was the proverbial nail, but this is how “major” Brooks finishes off tournaments.

Wow.
A dart from @BKoepka.
Nearly a hole-in-one. #LiveUnderPar pic.twitter.com/P7uRsg2xxG

BANG.
A big birdie by @BKoepka.
He's the solo leader. Again.#LiveUnderPar pic.twitter.com/mTHwKeNUR6

MIC DROP. @BKoepka holes it!#LiveUnderPar pic.twitter.com/baP7yIT9qy

EAGLE to win by FOUR.
A back-nine 29 for @BKoepka.
What a closing performance.#LiveUnderPar pic.twitter.com/RNlb4Yy0dU

Already hungry for more trophies.#LiveUnderPar pic.twitter.com/getXyBL3bC

A motivated and excited Brooks is a scary site for the rest of the PGA Tour, because is “major” Brooks starts playing every week, I could seem Koepka keeping that #1 ranking for a long time.
