Freak sunny snap as UK temperatures reach 17C – here’s how YOU’RE affected by weather forecast

BRITAIN’S set for a freak sunny snap over the next 48 hours as temperatures could reach up to 17C.
High pressure from the continent is drawing up warmer air from the south, with most of the country looking likely to enjoy the milder weather.

But it’s not to last, as things will take a dramatic plunge towards the end of the week – before snow strikes by the end of the month.
Met Office meteorologist Clare Nasir said: “A puddle of very warm air will stretch across the UK for the next 48 hours.
“These are above average temperatures for this time of year. Today until Thursday will feel mild by night and warm by day.
“Temperatures will reach 15 or 16, and this could grow in areas with more sunshine, especially along the east coast.

“We start off with sunshine but a big contrast for western Scotland.

“At 9am rush hour it’s going to be steady, heavy rainfall for the far north of Scotland, down through western parts of the country and the south west.
“For north Wales and the north west of England we start off with some dampness. But the worst of the wet weather will be for Dumfries and Galloway, where there’s a yellow warning in force due to the risk of localised flooding.
“Gales around some western coasts, in addition to the rainfall, but the worst conditions do tend to ease off through the morning.
“The rainfall spreads north and it turns drier and brighter for the whole of north west England, west Wales and sunshine breaking out for much of England and Wales then.
“We keep cloudy skies for Scotland and Northern Ireland and some bits and pieces of rainfall.
“But the southerly wind is going to be mild, particularly for north Wales and northern parts of Scotland – 16 perhaps 17C.
