Coronation Street’s Malcolm Hebden is ‘great and really healthy’ as he returns to the cobbles after heart attack

CORONATION Street star Malcolm Cole is “great and really healthy” ahead of his return to the cobbles.
The actor – who plays Norris Cole in the ITV soap – was forced to take a break after suffering a heart attack last year, but now his co-star Dolly-Rose Campbell has revealed he is back to his best and will soon be back.

She told the Daily Star: “He looks great. He is looking really healthy. He’s really well.”
He recently told how his life was saved by the surgery he had, adding: “Fortunately I didn’t realise how bad it was. I was dying.”
The actor is expected to reprise his role of Norris for a limited time in May.
Norris was briefly mentioned on the show last week when he sent word to Rita Tanner of his intentions to sell The Kabin to fund his travels with Emily Bishop.

And Rita – who is played by Barbara Knox in the ITV soap – sadly confirmed she won’t be in the running to buy the shop as it would break Maria Connor’s heart if she were to ask for the money she invested in her salon back.
With Rita officially out of the running, Brian Packham is given food for thought and makes an offer behind Rita’s back, which will not go well later this week.
As an excited Brian and Cathy head over to tell Rita the good news, they’re floored to find a furious Rita ranting and raving about Norris selling the shop from under her, unaware they’re the potential new owners.
When they manage to tell Rita that they’re the ones buying the shop, Rita is incensed.

Although the former Rovers Return landlady managed to walk away from the scene of the crash, she later collapsed in her flat.
With Jenny, actress Sally Ann Matthews, terrified about going down for the crime, actor Richard Hawley has revealed Johnny will take the flak for her.
He told The Daily Star: “It’s a no-brainer for Johnny and it would be for me too.
“I know it’s perverting the course of justice but it’s about love and protection of the people closest to you.

Coronation Street’s Julia Goulding signs new deal to remain on the cobbles for another year

CORONATION Street star Julia Goulding has landed a bumper new contract.
The actress – who plays Shona Ramsey in the ITV soap – has wowed bosses with her performance over the last year as the waitress has struggled to help boyfriend David Platt through his rape ordeal.

And now The Sun Online can reveal how the actress has signed a new deal to keep her on the cobbles for another year.
A source said: “Shona’s become one of the street’s most beloved characters and Julia’s one of the show’s biggest talents so it was a no brainer to keep her.”
The actress joined the show in 2016 as a runaway fleeing evil abuser Nathan Curtis who later targeted Bethany Platt. She was also revealed as the mother of Kylie Platt’s killer Clayton Hibbs.
As well as Julia, three other members of the Platt family have landed deals with Julia’s on-screen partner Jack P. Shepherd signing a bumper new pay deal and Lucy Fallon and Tina O’Brien being offered new deals.

Lucy, 22, plays teenager Bethany Platt in the soap, with 35-year-old Tina playing her on-screen mum, Sarah.
Lucy impressed fans and critics alike with her performance as sexual abuse victim Bethany – picking up a string of awards off the back of the hard-hitting story, including Best Actress at the British Soap Awards.
Now she and Tina have signed up for another year on the show.
A source told the Mail: “Lucy has been a great addition to the cast and her performances have been amazing.

“The executives are also well-aware that they need some glamour in the show and want to guard against people deciding to leave at the same time when their contracts are up so they were both offered new deals at the earliest opportunity.”

Daniel –Rob Mallard – is devastated but soon rages at Ken for not telling him, especially when he learns that Sinead has refused treatment because it would mean losing their baby.
Daniel pleads with Sinead to change her mind, but she’s resolute the baby comes first.
He is devastated to find out she has cancer
Back at home Ken is in the firing line as an emotional Daniel vents his anger at his dad.
Peter Barlow steps in and tries to calm Daniel down, telling him that it’s not Ken’s fault that Sinead has cancer and that he can’t be angry at him for respecting her wishes.
He implores Daniel to be the better man and stand by Sinead despite their differences.

Sinead Tinker makes a worrying decision in Coronation Street next week when she refuses treatment for her cervical cancer after collapsing at work.
The pregnant knicker stitcher – played by Katie McGlynn in the ITV soap -leaves everyone worried when she passes out in the toilets at Underworld and is rushed to hospital.

He pleads with her to do whatever it takes to increase her survival chances but Sinead won’t be moved over her decision that the baby’s life comes before hers, leaving Daniel devastated.
Later, having passed the first trimester Sinead agrees to have mild chemotherapy which won’t harm her unborn child.
She collapses at work and is rushed to hospital
But she’s terrified when the oncologist explains the treatment to her.
Daniel is by her side to tell her she’s doing the right thing for both her and the baby.
Sinead is led away for treatment by a nurse and she’s clearly scared to death.

But later Steve makes a startling discovery when he finds the laptop that went missing from Webster’s Autos stashed away in the flat above Street Cars.
He’s horrified when he watches the CCTV footage on the computer and sees Tracy sabotaging Michelle Connor’s car in the garage.
A confused Steve confronts Tracy who tries to explain that she was angry after thinking she’d found out about his non-existent affair with Abi Franklin and wanted to punish her by causing her to lose her job.
Tracy goes on to confess that she feels really bad about what’s happened now Abi has been hauled in for questioning by the police after Michelle’s car was involved in a fatal crash.

IT’S another pretty rubbish week for Ali Neeson in Coronation Street next week when the mum of Ronan Truman – the shady gangster he killed to protect his family – arrives on the cobbles wanting details of her son’s brutal death.
Ali – played by daddy-to-be James Burrows – is already feeling the pressure of his dark secret weighing on his shoulders and even when the police call at the flat to tell his mum Michelle Connor that he car wasn’t responsible for the crash, he can’t shake the uneasy feeling.

He’s left feeling even more rattled when a woman arrives to talk to him and introduces herself as Ronan’s mum, Patti.
Ali is horrified when she asks him to talk him through her son’s final moments and how trainee doctor Ali tried to save his life.
Ali is broken as he repeats his lie to her, telling her he did everything possible to save Ronan’s life.
When Patti leaves Ali breaks down to Michelle and tells her that he can’t live with the guilt.
Ali can’t cope with the guilt and starts drinking before having a massive bust up with Robert
Later, Ali returns to the flat drunk as a skunk and confides in Michelle’s partner Robert Preston about how he helped Ronan pull the fence post out of his body, causing him to bleed to death.
He tells Robert that the guilt is eating him up inside and that he intends to hand himself into the police.
Robert is stunned but goes into protective step-dad mode, reassuring Ali that handing himself in will do no one any good.

A dark storyline kicks off for Mary Taylor in Coronation Street next week when the florist discovers her son Jude Appleton is still lying.
As the week gets underway, Jude is excited to reveal to Mary and wife Angie that he has got an interview for a spot on the paramedic course.

Later a journalist from the Good Samaritan award comes to speak to Jude about saving Roy’s life.
But Mary, played by fan favourite Patti Claire, discovers the £5k cheque from Roy and confronts her son in public about his lies.
She tells him that he she is going to tell Angie and Roy the truth, causing Jude to react in a way that leaves Mary shaken and wondering if Jude has inherited his dad’s violent streak.
On Wednesday Geoff Metcalfe hosts the Good Samaritan Awards at Speed Dahl and Mary is unable to listen to all the good things being said about Jude.
She slips out of the awards, followed by Roy who has guessed that something is going on with Mary and Jude.

They head back just as Jude collects his award with Angie looking on proudly. Will Mary be able to keep quiet?
The Sun Online revealed in August that Jude would turn violent with his mum after she exposes him as a pathological liar.
Viewers know that Jude is the baby Mary was forced to give up as a young teenager after she was brutally raped.
And now she’s going to be left wondering whether troubled Jude takes after his evil father when he turns nasty towards her.

Jude will soon be exposed as a pathological liar in the soap to his friends and neighbours after trying to claim credit for saving Roy Cropper’s life, when in fact it was Dr Ali Neeson.
However the storyline will take a dark twist when Mary confronts Jude about his latest lies.
A source told The Sun Online: “When Jude is exposed as a pathological liar Mary confronts him and tries to get to the bottom of why he does it.
“But when she tries to get answers he gets physical with her and leaves her utterly terrified.
“She confides in Roy about how scared she is of him and admits her fears that he has got his father’s violent streak.”
The source added: “Roy tries to support her and says she needs to come clean about what Jude is doing for everyone’s sake.
“But it remains to be seen whether she will or how violent he’ll get to cover his tracks.”
