Fulham slated for sacking Ranieri but fed-up fans wildly celebrate the news

FULHAM have been widely slated by rival fans for sacking Claudio Ranieri after less than four months but fed-up Cottagers fans have wildly celebrated the news.
SunSport exclusively revealed that the Italian was set to be axed following the club’s dreadful form, with former player Scott Parker appointed on a caretaker basis.
Claudio Ranieri has been fired by Fulham with the club sitting ten points off safetyReuters
The 67-year-old won just three out of his 17 games in charge of the West London side – losing 11 times as Fulham sit ten points off safety with ten games to play.
Yesterday’s 2-0 defeat against Southampton at St Mary’s proved to be the final straw for Ranieri – who replaced Slavisa Jokanovic as boss in November.
Rival fans widely criticised Fulham’s second sacking with the club still fighting for survival with one writing: “What’s the point of signing him in the first place anyways?”
User Rob Walker agreed with that post, writing: “Bizarre Fulham fans blaming Ranieri. What was he supposed to do in January? Sign 18 better players?!”

What's the point of signing him in the first place anyways ?
— KroenkeOut (Kapiccino) (@Kapiccino88) February 28, 2019

Absolute joke. Don't they realise the club just doesn't have the players and it's nothing to do with the manager. Embarrasing
— AJC (@AJ041987) February 28, 2019

Great shame, he is a gentleman and they expected him to work miracles with very limited resources
— pelton boy (@peltonboy) February 28, 2019

Ranieri comes in over the halfway point of the season, taking over a squad that Jokanovic spent 120M on and was still bottom of the league. Ranieri got more points than Jokanovic. Feel sorry for him tbh. https://t.co/63j5fnliVq
— Ross (@rossduffy16) February 28, 2019

Joke of a football club! Spend millions, sack the manager that spent the money. Then employ a manager don’t give him any money to spend and then he gets sacked for not getting them out of trouble. Couldn’t make it up
— ChrisB (@Chris_J_Birkett) February 28, 2019

One fan posted: “Great shame, he is a gentleman and they expected him to work miracles with very limited resources.”
Another argued: “Absolute joke. Don’t they realise the club just doesn’t have the players and it’s nothing to do with the manager. Embarrassing.”
However, despite the critiques of their rivals, Fulham fans have widely celebrated the news with several fans calling for the return of former boss, Slavisa Jokanovic.
Ranieri had also upset Fulham supporters with his controversial decision to drop fan-favourites, Ryan Sessegnon, and Tom Cairney for a more defensive approach.

You can come back home now boss @Jokanovic
— KATIE NICHOLLS (@SuperKatPebbles) February 28, 2019

Get Slav back
— Max Thompson (@MaxThompson10) February 28, 2019

Finally. Give the boys hell Parker! More importantly, let them attack again!
— Nicholas Everett (@NMEverett01) February 28, 2019

Fantastic!! Good luck Scotty.
— Luke (@lukemcewen) February 28, 2019

Sadly the right decision. I was angry when Slav was sacked but the urge to kick in the TV nullified by the fact that we had appointed Ranieri. who seemed a good choice, but not every manager fits every club. All we can do now is back Scott Parker.
— bob cain (@bobcainffc1971) February 28, 2019

Speaking of his exit, Ranieri told Fulham’s website: “I am obviously disappointed with the recent results and that we could not build on the good start we made following my appointment.
“Finally, I would like to thank the club, the players and the fans for the support they have given me during my time at the club.”
Parker’s first match in charge will be against his former employers Chelsea on Sunday, when the Blues travel to Craven Cottage.
Before his struggling side face Leicester away, and then both Liverpool and Manchester City at home.

Heineken Champions Cup: Big Mak and tries on the menu as Saracens taste European qualification in France’s food capital

BIG MAK and tries was on the menu as Saracens tasted European qualification in France’s food capital.
Sarries masterchef Mako Vunipola cooked-up the assists for both of their first-half scores in Lyon.

And on his 50th Champions Cup game the England ace made a meal out of the Top14 side in their bonus-point hammering at the Matmut Stadium.
Vunipola senior will be in Eddie Jones’ Six Nations squad on Thursday after helping his club go into the final weekend as the top seeds.
And younger brother Billy, back after breaking his arm three times in just 10 months, will also return the Test circuit despite a quiet game in club colours by his usual world-class standards.
Sarries are also now the tournament’s only unbeaten side after losses for French giants Toulouse and Racing 92 this weekend.

Though as has often been the case this season, though, they had it far from their own way and had to fight and scrap their way to victory.
Former England under-20s star Nick Tompkins got on the end of front-rower Vunipola’s first assist with flanker Jackson Wray on hand to touch down the second.
Tompkins, who might have to battle with Elliot Daly for the no.13 shirt next season if the Wasps star can get himself out of his contract at the Ricoh Arena, then proved he can be just as lethal a finisher as the Lion.
From the back of a driving maul the 23-year-old unleashed some gas and a huge side-step as he powered over the line for his second – despite four Lyon defenders desperatley trying to tackle him.

It soon turned from the beauty to the beastly as Maro Itoje was yellow carded for slapping the ball out of Charl McLeod’s hands.
Lyon replacement prop Albertus Buckle was then lucky to only be sent to the bin as he stamped on Wallaby Will Skelton’s giant tree-trunk legs.
Restoring some class, as he always does, was Sarries full-back Alex Goode.
The man who should be playing for England carved Lyon up with a jinking run before slipping the ball to Ben Spencer to bag the extra point.

Chelsea will go after Callum Wilson if they fail to sign Gonzalo HiguainReuters
GIANFRANCO ZOLA has reportedly called Cagliari ace Nicolo Barella on numerous occasions to persuade him to a Chelsea switch.
Maurizio Sarri sees the Italian as a replacement for Monaco-bound Cesc Fabregas.
CHELSEA will offer Bournemouth £50m to sign Callum Wilson… if they fail to land Gonzalo Higuain.
The Argentine is Maurizio Sarri’s top transfer target, but they will settle on the former Coventry man should no deal be reached.
CHELSEA have not yet offered Callum Hudson-Odoi a new deal, despite interest from Bayern Munich.
The Blues have discussed an extension with the player but no deal is currently on the table.
MAURO ICARDI has taken a step closer to a move to Chelsea today after wife and agent Wanda Nara revealed he is ‘far away’ from a new Inter deal.
She said: “We are far from reaching an agreement, we have not yet received a satisfactory proposal from Inter.”

CALLUM HUDSON-ODOI has been asking team-mate Antonio Rudiger about life in Germany, the defender has revealed.
Rudiger, who started his career at Stuttgart, said he had offered the youngster advice but ultimately hopes he stays with Chelsea.
CHELSEA’S starting eleven could look very different at the end of the January transfer window with up to five new additions to the side.
Gonzalo Higuain is expected to join in the near future – while the Blues will have Christian Pulisic arriving in the summer.
BLUES face a problem in offloading Alvaro Morata to Sevilla on loan after the Spanish side refused to pay his full wages.
The striker is close to leaving on a temporary deal – but Chelsea may have to pay some of his £140,000-a-week salary to get him off the books.

Maurizio Sarri has been left fuming at the decision, criticising English referees for their usage of the VAR system.

The Belgian international joined the Spanish side on loan for the season, but has struggled for goals with just three in 23 matches.

Ronaldo, now playing for Juventus in Italy, is alleged to have raped aspiring US model Kathryn Mayorga, 34, nine years ago in a Las Vegas hotel room.
Leaked court papers suggest his legal team agreed to pay £287,000 to stop her pursuing charges and gagged her from speaking out — but did not admit any wrongdoing.

UFC 232 sensationally moved from Vegas to LA due to Jon Jones’ drugs test

Category : MMA , Sport , UFC

JON JONES’ fight with Alexander Gustafsson and the rest of next week’s UFC 232 has been sensationally switched from California to Las Vegas.
An “abnormality” over a recent drugs test sample from Jones is the reason behind the huge move for the December 30 bash.
fight with Alexander Gustafsson and the rest of next week’s UFC 232 has been sensationally switched from California to Las VegasAP
A trace of turinabol was found in the fighters system, but because Nevada State Athletic Commission doesn’t have enough time to investigate, the whole show has been relocated.
It is the same substance the 31-year-old Jones was handed a 15-month suspension for back in 2017.
He was only cleared to return to the Octagon last week.
Now the pay-per-view will take place at The Forum in Inglewood, California after plans to use the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas were axed.
Dana White has come out in defence of Jon Jones after the shock news
The California State Athletic Commission will approve a license for Jones to take on Gustafsson at the last minute.
UFC VP of Athlete Health and Performance Jeff Novitzky insists that this isn’t a violation by Jones, explaining that he and USADA have said that the positive test is a “pulsing” effect.
Novitzky said that there was only a “picogram” level of turinabol in Jones’ system.
He said: “A picogram is a one-trillionth of a gram. If you put one grain of salt on the table and split it up into 50 million pieces, a picogram is one of those pieces of that gram of salt.
“These levels have shown up in the single and double digits of picograms – so such a small amount.”

The NSAC issued a statement to MMAjunkie explaining that Jones’ application for a licence has been allowed to be withdrawn in the state of Nevada so he is clear to fight in California.
The NSAC also said that Jones will go before the board in January.
There statement said: “Today, Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) Executive Director Bob Bennett announced that, in consultation with NSAC Commission Chair Anthony Marnell III, unarmed combatant Jon Jones will be allowed to withdraw his pending application for licensure, which was intended to clear him to fight in a major contest in Nevada later this month.
“After extensive analysis of Mr. Jones’ prior 18 months of USADA in- and out-of-competition anti-doping drug testing results, Director Bennett, Chair Marnell and Mr Jones agree that he will appear at an evidentiary hearing in January. This will allow for a measured, thoughtful and comprehensive discussion of his anti-doping testing protocol and results and provide an opportunity for the NSAC to determine the appropriate path forward for him in Nevada. We look forward to this hearing.”

UFC president Dana White, who has been very critical of Jones’ failed drug test past, has taken a different stand this time round as the chief launched a defence of the fighter.
He said: “I haven’t heard anything negative about Jon Jones leading up to this fight – nothing.
“He was willing to jump on a plane yesterday and go take a drug test – like, immediately. If I want to plan a PR for Jon Jones in two months, try pulling that together. It’s tough to get Jon Jones.
“He’s willing to do anything. So, I believe that Jon Jones is clean. He’s in fight shape, and I believe that he’s been doing the right thing.”
White added he would not move the fight just to keep Jones in the event, they would’ve just pulled the fight instead.
He said: “We wouldn’t do it. We’d pull the fight, and the (Cris Cyborg vs. Amanda Nunes title fight) would be the main event and the fight would roll. That’s it. We’d roll on. Jones would either go away forever, or – you know how I am – if these guys even doubted that something bad happened here and he was wrong or whatever, the fight’s off. We’d pull the fight.
“Jones didn’t do anything wrong here. All the biggest experts, the smartest people in the world that deal with this are saying that he did not cheat, he didn’t do anything. So how do we not do this fight?”
